Watch Pacquiao vs Clottey Online Free LIVE

March 13, 2010

Just a day for this Pacquiao vs Clottey fight online and the world will be once more making a move to focus on the same channel that airs Pacquiao vs Clottey fight on screen.

After their weighin which turned out to be very successful, Clottey at 147 lbs and the pound for pound king at more than 145 lbs to fit in the welterweight figth bound for tomorrow at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. The fight is on and the hype is just beggining on the possibilities and the expectations of boxing aficionados.

It seems that Clottey is the underdog here and Pacquiao had gained all the respect on his way to fame after winning big shots to former champions and calibered fighters like Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Diaz, Dela Hoya and Hatton. Even the betting ratio now on its way to be on Pacquiao.

I can  still remember on the previous fights of Manny Pacquiao where he is the underdog and the sympathy of betters are not on him. But they where wrong. It is wrong to believe on the wrong perceptions. Pacquiao had gained so much power and skills on each fights that he has.

To watch him fighting tomorrow will add another history and record for himself. Many favors for Pacquiao to win this fight and even boxing specialist are on his side for The Event .

Is Pacquiao’s career complete if he doesn’t fight Mayweather?

February 27, 2010

In the teleconference call yesterday, World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao said the following: “I believe I don’t really need to fight Mayweather because what I have actually done in boxing right now, I think is good enough for me.” But is Pacquiao’s career really complete if he doesn’t fight Mayweather? I really don’t think it is.

Pacquiao fought few recognizable opponents from the start of his career until he fought Marco Antonio Barrera for the first time in 2003. By then, Pacquiao had been fighting for eight years and had won titles in the flyweight and super bantamweight divisions.

However, didn’t take on anyone worth mentioning until he fought a battle scared Barrera in 2003. By that time in Barrera’s career, he had been through two grueling wars against Erik Morales. Pacquiao stopped Barrera in the 11th round. After that fight, Pacquiao fought to a 12 round draw with Juan Manuel Marquez. Beyond that fight, Pacquiao fought two more bouts against Morales, another fight against Barrera, which wasn’t really needed given the one-sided first bout between them.

In 2008, Pacquiao won a controversial 12 round split decision over Marquez in a rematch, a fight in which many people still think Marquez won. Pacquiao never gave Marquez a rematch. Pacquiao fought David Diaz in 2008, but he wasn’t considered to be the best fighter in the lightweight division at the time. Pacquiao then fought and beat and old Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and then most recently Miguel Cotto.

Those wins were good. However, none of those fighters were considered to be the best in their divisions at the time that Pacquiao fought them. De La Hoya was old, Hatton was more or less shot, and Cotto still hadn’t looked the same after taking a terrifying beating at the hands of Antonio Margarito in 2008.

As such, I think even with a win over Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao’s next opponent for March 13th, he needs a win over Floyd Mayweather Jr. to ensure he has a lasting legacy. The wins over Diaz, Barrera, Morales (who beat Pacquiao in their first fight), Marquez (a questionable draw and a controversial win), De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto just aren’t enough in my view to make me think that Pacquiao’s career is complete.

He just doesn’t have enough wins over fighters that were truly considered to be the very best in their weight divisions for me to see Pacquiao’s legacy as a shining one. Hatton, Cotto, Morales, Barrera and the questionable win over Marquez just isn’t enough.

Pacquiao needs to give a rematch to Marquez, still fight Mayweather and ideally Shane Mosley for me to even consider Pacquiao as a great fighter. Without wins over those fighters, then I see Pacquiao as merely a good fighter but not a great one. Unless Pacquiao can find his way into and out of those fights without losing, then I don’t rate Pacquiao as one of the best fighters of all time. I see Pacquiao as having lost to Marquez twice, and I think Mayweather and Mosley would likely beat Pacquiao as well if given the chance.

When Pooh met Pacmom

November 9, 2009

Comedian Pooh finally met Dionisia “Pacmom” Pacquiao during the shooting for the TV ad of their endorsement of a food supplement.

“Nauna ako nang konti [dumating sa set] tapos maya-maya dumating na siya (Dionisia) at naghanap ng kuwarto. Nagkuwentuhan kami, tapos nagkutkot [siya] ng paa, nagtaas ng paa… tawa lang kami ng tawa!” he fondly recalled in an interview held at the East Dragon Room of Aberdeen Court on Nov. 6.

Pooh said they easily broke the ice by speaking the Visayan dialect. “Marunong akong mag-Cebuano, tapos salita niya Bisaya, kaya nagkuwentuhan kami in Bisaya.” The Manny Pacquiao impersonator said that Pacmom was surprised to see him looking like her son, pound for pound king Manny. “Nagbihis ako [tapos] paglabas ko, [ang sabi niya,] ‘Hala! Parang anak ko talaga!’ Nagulat talaga siya,”

Pooh shared. He said all is well between ‘Manny Pooh-quiao’ (Pooh’s name when impersonating Manny) and the boxing champ’s family, including Mommy Dionisia. “Natutuwa naman siya [na ginagaya ko ang anak niya]. Masaya ako kasi kahit si Jinkee [Manny’s wife] at mismong si Manny [ay] alam [ang panggagaya ko]. Anyway, wala naman akong ginagawang kasiraan sa pag-impersonate kay Manny,” related Pooh. The comedian said he has been blessed in impersonating Manny.

“Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa character na ‘to [Manny Pooh-quiao]. Ito ang nakapagpabili sa’kin ng mga lupain, pakyanin at kaingin. O, diba, lahat ng mga ‘–in?’” he kidded. Although unsure if he’ll be able to attend the premiere night of Dionisia’s first movie, “Ang Tanging Pamilya,” Pooh gave her a message ala-Manny. “Ma, keep up the good work. Everything will happen, and you know, just pray. That’s all, thank you all very much,” said. Manny Pooh-quiao is proud of her ‘mother’s’ performance in the film. “Oh well, ang `masasabi ko lang sa nanay ko, magaling na artista tsaka magaling ‘yan na dramatic actress.

Kahit comedy siya, mapapaiyak ka sa kakatawa sa kanya,” Pooh-quiao said. Pooh and Dionisia endorse OsteoGard, a natural food supplement designed to pre-empt Osteo-Arthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease). According to a press release, OsteoGard contains 500mg. of glucosamine, a safe and more potent dosage to promote the formation and repair of cartilage. It also contains chondroitin sulfate that helps the repair of cartilage by water retention and elasticity to inhibit the enzymes that break down cartilage. OsteoGard is a product of Corbridge Group Philippines, one of the country’s established pharmaceutical companies.

Cotto’s camp to inspect gloves

November 5, 2009
LOS ANGELES, November 3, 2009 (AFP) - Miguel Cotto’s handlers say they will carefully scrutinize the gloves and hand wraps of Manny Pacquiao before their World Boxing Organization welterweight title fight in Las Vegas.

Miguel Cotto Sr said Tuesday they blundered by not inspecting Antonio Margarito’s gloves prior to Cotto’s lone career loss in July of last year and vow never to let it happen again.

“We only commit the same error once,” said Cotto Sr. “We will never make that mistake again.”

The increased vigilance comes after Margarito was caught using “loaded wraps” in his following fight against Shane Mosley in January.

Unlike Cotto, Mosley’s trainers entered Margarito’s dressing room prior to the fight. There they noticed that a damp hard white powder had been placed in between the rows of wrapping and tape before Margarito put his gloves on for the fight.

It has never been proven that Margarito cheated by using a plaster of Paris type substance for the Cotto fight but suspicions are strong, especially in Cotto’s camp and that’s the reason for the stepped up inspections of opponents’ gloves and wraps.

Cotto, of Puerto Rico, senses he has the public support on this one.

“A loss is a loss. Nobody knows for sure if he uses it with me, or not, just Margarito and his team,” said Cotto, after a 90 minute workout at the Pound4Pound Gym in Beverly Hills Tuesday. “But it makes me feel better (about the loss). Boxing fans are knowledgeable. They are the judges.”

A classic boxer in the true sense of the word, Cotto is 34-1 with 27 knockouts.

Cotto bristled Tuesday at suggestions by Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach that the first loss is one of the toughest for a previously unbeaten fighter to recover from.

Cotto denied that the loss to Margarito had any negative effect on his confidence in the ring.

“Why don’t you ask Manny that question because he has had three losses I have just one,” Cotto said.

“My commitment is with myself. In my last fight (Joshua Clottey) I could have stopped the fight (cuts) but I decided to stay in the ring because of my commitment to myself and my family.”

“Sometimes when you lose you win. Since Margarito great things have come to my career.

“Where is Margarito right now and where is Miguel Cotto?” Said Cotto Sr, “We have worked a lot with his mind and staying focused. Mentally he is a strong guy.”

Roach is predicting that the November 14 fight at the MGM hotel and casino won’t go the distance and that the favoured Pacquiao will knock Cotto out capture his seventh title in seven different weight classes. “This is the problem,” Cotto said. “Freddie Roach is not the guy who is going to climb into the ring. If he prepares Manny for just nine rounds then he has three more rounds. “He (Roach) can say whatever he wants.

One day he says the first round and the next day he says round seven. I’m preparing for 12 rounds and nobody is going to know what will happen until the night of the 14th.” Cotto said he is focusing on this 145-pound bout and doesn’t listen to talk about Pacquiao (49-3-2, 27 KOs) possibly fighting Floyd Mayweather in a mega title fight if he beats Cotto.

“He can fight Mayweather as many times as he wants after I beat him,” Cotto said. Cotto respects Pacquiao for the way he has come from modest roots in the Philippines to become a world class boxer who is revered by Filipinos at home and abroad. “He has earned everything he has,” Cotto said. “Manny looked good against Oscar De La Hoya and (Ricky) Hatton. But I’m not Oscar or Hatton. Manny chose the right time to fight Oscar.”

Cotto is looking forward to wrapping up training camp, heading to Las Vegas next week and says this is the biggest fight of his life. “It is the most important fight of my career, but we’ll have to see on the 14th if he is the toughest guy I have fought in my career,” Cotto said.

Pacquiao close to fulfilling target

October 18, 2009

Manny Pacquiao has completed a third of the required number of sparring rounds after the Filipino pride went nine rounds on Saturday with a battery of sparring partners in his Baguio training camp, less than a month before he collides with Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.

Since kicking off his sparring session three weeks ago, Pacquiao has so far logged 55 rounds and still needs 105 to fulfill the targeted number that top trainer Freddie Roach wants him to do to prime himself up for the expected grueling bout with Cotto at the MGM Grand.

Pacquiao had three rounds with Porter, a 21-year-old super-welterweight who he had floored twice last Thursday, then banged with battle-scarred Jose Luis Castillo for another three and had only two with Urbano Antillon after Antillon sustained a cut.

Roach then called on Porter up the ring for another round – the ninth – to cap the intense workout at the Shape Up Gym.

Next week, Pacquiao will start sparring ten and even as much as 12 rounds in one session as he gets himself ready to uproot his training camp for the more familiar confines of the Wild Card in Hollywood.

But Pacquiao will stay and train for a couple of days in Manila this coming week before leaving for the US on Saturday.

Pacquiao’s adviser Mike Koncz said the fighter will travel to Manila from Baguio after Thursday’s workout then work out either at Gerry Peñalosa’s gym in Mandaluyong or the Wild Card in Parañaque before packing his bags for the States.

Cotto, meanwhile, is likewise right on target, according to reports from the Puerto Rican press.

Camped out in Tampa, Florida, for almost a month now, the 28-year-old Cotto has been doing exactly what his trainers want him to do during their six-day-a-week workout at the Fight Factory Gym, where a 24×24 ring is utilized since his handlers believe Pacquiao will not only run away but refrain from engaging Cotto in a toe-to-toe exchange.
